maetang elephant park is building an elephant clinic that will cater for all sick or injured elephants in the Maetaman valley, The elephant clinic has been paid for by selling t shirts, silk wine bags, elephant paintings and elephant dung paper products as as well as from our elephant riding and bamboo rafting activities. The upkeep and running costs of the elephant clinic are being paid for by selling the work of our most talented elephants and these novelty gifts, are available in our on line shop. This is all part of our policy of protecting asian elephants and taking care of our Mahouts

The camp policy towards cruelty to animals is ZERO TOLERANCE. If you witness any abuse while elephant riding please report it to the management

maetang elephant park, mission

1) protecting asian elephants by:

 a) Attracting the elephants away from illegal logging by providing alternative work including elephant riding.

 b) Providing food and vitamins to supplement their normal diet.

 c) Providing medical care for sick or injured elephants in our new elephant clinic. See our

 d) Providing a safe environment for the birth and after care of infants.

2) To provide welfare for the Mahouts and work for their families (making elephant dung paper products.)

3) To help the Karen Hill Tribe people by providing stability for this nomadic tribe.

The staff at maetang elephant park are mainly Karen Hill Tribe people, indigenous to the area

We, the owners, have taken it upon ourselves to ensure that ALL our employees are given a decent wage, medical cover and insurance and decent living and working conditions. We take pride in our camp and in our workforce and ensure their loyalty by providing welfare support when needed and staff activities, which families of the Mahouts are encouraged to attend.

For the elephants, we provide vitamins and food supplements to replace their natural diet, which is being eroded by illegal logging and farmer encroachment and we have our own elephant clinic where we can treat sick or injured elephants, taking the burden off the Mahout.

My Husband and I, have taken a lifetime commitment to protecting asian elephants and it is through maetang elephant park, that we are able to fulfill that commitment. By opening maetang elephant park to visitors where they can go elephant riding, bamboo rafting and visit the elephant clinic as well as giving them the chance to stand beside, touch, smell and interact with these magnificent animals, we are able to provide work for both the elephants and their Mahouts. For the elephants, elephant riding for visitors is easy work in comparison to the alternatives and for YOU, a wonderful sense of satisfaction at the end of the day, knowing that you have played a small but important part in helping asian elephants
